Le peintre danois, Carl Frederic Aagaard, est né à Odense, au Danemark, en 1833.

Il a étudié l'art avec son frère, qui allait devenir un célèbre graveur sur verre. Au terme de ses études, il a travaillé avec un artiste du nom de Hilker, un peintre décoratif, ils ont collaboré à plusieurs ouvrages sur les universités et les autres monuments publics. Sa peinture décorative est devenue très connue au Danemark, Aagaard a reçu commande pour la chapelle du roi Christian IV. Pendant ce temps, il a travaillé avec le peintre paysagiste, Peter-Kristian Skoovgaard, et a été encouragé à passer plus de temps à la peinture sur toile. Il expose pour la première fois en 1857.

Aagaard voyage beaucoup et élargi son expérience artistique, y compris les voyages en Suisse et en Allemagne en 1869. Il est décédé en 1895.

Carl Fredrik Aagaard was born in Denmark and studied painting at the Danish Royal Academy during the time Copenhagen was the center of a spectacular resurgence of the arts led by the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen and the painter Eckersberg.Carl Aagaard began his career towards the end of this great period in Denmark, but was instructed by the country's great artists while at the Academy. It was his final teacher though, the landscape painter Peter Skoovgaard, that was to be the most influential. In 1857, Aagaard exhibited his paintings for the first time to great success and continued to exhibit paintings and trips to Switzerland and Italy helped to perfect his style.
